Usually we file taxes ourselves online, but we converted our primary residence to a rental property in 2023 and had questions so we went to H&R Block for professional help to ensure we filed correctly. After paying $629, we got home to discover that our Schedule E was completely incorrect, and we will now need to go find someone else to help us file an amended return. Our tax preparer had no clue what he was doing and entered erroneous information into the forms. In some fields he appears to have just guessed about certain information instead of asking us. The information is completely erroneous. He clearly did not understand the concept of converting a primary residence to a rental property. Our tax preparer also did not inform us of any deductions or credits we might be eligible for or ask us about circumstances that could increase our deductions. Instead, we had to tell him what credits and deductions we qualified for and have him input the information. He was a nice guy, but the overall experience was terrible and now I have the headache of figuring out how to amend our tax documents. H&R Block is an absolute nightmare for anyone who doesn’t have a simple tax situation. I would never use them again or recommend them to anyone.

Very bad experience. I made an appointment for 4pm online, I called on my way there and no one answered my call. I managed to find the place thankfully. I get there around 3:58pm I check in and the young man at the front desk was very nice. He informed me that the person I had the appointment with is still with his appointment of 3pm. I told him okay, I can wait a few minutes. Those few minutes turned into 30-35mins wait. I went up to him I asked if they have anyone else available he said yes let me tell them. A woman comes up to me and ask what documents do I have? I tell her and told me she can help but only for 30 min because she has another appointment. I didn’t like that but I needed to get my taxes done. As we get to her desk she quickly try’s to help me and tells me I am missing a document. And told me at this time she cannot help and she has another appointment to attend too. I have to admit I am fault for not having all documents but the customer service here is TRASH. And they are so disorganized. Do not recommend this place to anyone.

Instead of sleeping in on a saturday, I showed up at 9:30 AM just to find out my agent didn't even show up to the office for my appointment. So instead I'm now waiting for a call that may never even come. I only need to show up once a year, and you waste my time instead of communicating with your employees.

I scheduled an in-person appointment a month or so ago and I was asked to confirm it at 3:15 AM this morning, notifying me that if I didn't confirm right away they would cancel it – I saw it at like 5 AM or so and confirmed. When I showed up, I was told that the agent (Elena Chikhlyaeva) only worked from home, even though the appt was confirmed to be at their physical office in Germantown. The receptionist and the office manager both bumbled that she only worked from home, responding that "she doesn’t work from the office!" Then why did I have to come here in the first place?! I set this up a long time ago. What an absolute waste of time and an incredibly frustrating experience. Both the receptionist and office manager didn't even know how to respond and barely acknowledged that the company they worked for was at fault and didn't apologize. They said someone else could help us and we asked how long it would be. The manager walked away and spoke to one of the agents who worked there, leading us to believe that he was inquiring who could help us out. However, he didn't even return, even though we could hear/see him (the office is like 50-75 feet, tops). Since he didn’t return, we asked the receptionist how long it would be before someone else could help us. She looked confused and frustrated and merely responded that everyone else "had clients right now", indicating we weren't worth a response and we'd just have to wait to see when/if we would be attended to. We could have just filed them at home and ended up doing just that - we didn't even get a response from Elena until 2 hours later when she didn't even let us know what happened. This place is an absolute joke and the joke is on you. Stay away from H&R Block and especially this branch.

She puts it on top priority as if it's her own and completes even at the last moment(in timely manners).
